France is in the Maisooon!!!!

I'll make this post tout de suite, and littered with the few but key french words that I have learned in my first two days here in France. It's one in the morning and I am cul tired while typing this. According to the parking stub we walked for 11 hours and saw only a fraction of the city. Today we saw the classics: Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower, Madeleine, Place de Fontenoy, Napoleon's Tomb, and the Place de la Concorde. Pictures were taken...some good, some bad.

Yesterday was Dijon.....oui, I did get some mustard....and had some great vin. (Mon Dieu, je suis fatigue!!)

I'll end this with some pics. Tomorrow the Louvre, Notre Dame and Versailles.

Land of the Neutral

The first thing I saw when I got off the plane in Geneva, was a giant billboard of George Clooney pushing an espresso machine......welcome to Europe!!

Today was all about Pablo giving us a tour of Geneva: the streets, the plazas, the cafes, his favorite chicken joint....yes, the boy eats a lot of Swiss chicken....and by swiss chicken I don't mean chicken with a bunch of holes in it, but their version of El Pollo Loco. I got to say, it was good....different, but good.

We went for a stroll down to the lake, saw the shops (and by shops I mean the innumerable amount of watch stores) and ended up by the water, where we had a beer at a place that very closely resembles the waterfront in Georgetown...except there weren't any drunk idiots jumping into the fountains.

The highlight of the day was eating at this tiny little cafe that served crepes....had a Heineken with some sort of syrup (which was ordered by mistake...I should have taken french in high school instead of spanish!) which turned out to be pretty good and some crepes with lemon sorbet and raspberry syrup...very nice!!

Big day tomorrow...the journey begins. First stop, Dijon. Anyone have any suggestions? (I've already thought of asking the car next to us if they had any Grey Poupon....or just mustard since we were in Dijon anyways). After we spend the day there it's off to Paris in the afternoon.

In the great Griswold Tradition

I didn't really think about this until now, but the Nolasco family is about to embark in an adventure that pretty much mimics the National Lampoon's European Vacation movie. We are about to take a week long road trip through a few of the countries in Europe. But, the big difference is that Russ and Audrey were in their teens, while Alex and I are in our 30's...and Pablo is getting up there also.

You may ask..Why? I mean, it's not like we all live at home or anything..or that we don't have jobs (ahem, Pablo!). We do this because it's a wish my parents had that we all travel through Europe together. And after many postponements and conflicts, and even a frickin' volcano, it'll finally get done.

So, I am on my way to Geneva to meet up with the fam, pile up into those damn tiny little Euro-cars, and attempt to survive 10 days with the five of us...without killing each other!

I'll post as frequently as possible (as opposed to my ill-fated Dubai blog) and ask for suggestions on what to do in the city I'm in....so join me in what can only be described as a massive exercise in patience, with a little sight-seeing thrown in!

Seriously tho, this is gonna be a blast!!
